Growth brings distractions, focus only on what pushes the business forward. You don't capture lessons while you grind, you learn in retrospect. Group accountability brings motivation to both low and high performers, share your activities frequently (how many sales calls yesterday and how many today). Work in 2 weeks sprints, add new request to the next sprint candidate, using a Review-Preview logic looking at 1 week backward and 2 weeks forward. It's ok to reschedule commitment as long as you do it politely and it advance. Only schedule up to 80% of your agenda to allow for a buffer day during the week. How much you prepare shows how much you care. To survive the email-centric culture, only handle 10 email at a time. Don't let tools run your life. Brand means trust and distribution. Frustration comes from working hard without results, hence the need for small wins to have a momentum and keep pushing. You will make the best X by making as many X as possible rather than trying to make one perfect X. Don't think about getting 1% better every day, think about 1 thing you can do the next day to make it better. Try this sometimes: I don't go to bed until X is done. It's ok to suck but not ok to skip, better run 1km and read 1 page than not running nor reading at all. You don't need side hustles when you have a good main hustle. Offer support on whatever you are delegating, like roleplaying big meetings, without accepting the person delegating back to you. Delegation is a gift of skills and confidence. Rule about rules: 1, 2, 3, too many (or a simple shape). Speeches shouldn't be great due to charisma but by delivering a useful framework and the first domino-action to trigger the chain. Think in thematic decades; what will your 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s be about? Energy, mastery, family? Prioritize this. Give your close ones the opportunity to support yourself, they may not understand your field but they understand passion, priorities, and yourself. You can work at home and on the weekend, productivity doesn't wait and it teaches your kids about work ethic, as long as you're still with them. You may work 60 hours per week but you got to choose which 60 hours. Tell the truth and be openly yourself. Build one project with each of your kid and make them observe yours. When working for or applying to work for more experienced people, ask for scripts and guidance on how they expect and want you to act. You don't look stupid by asking for help, you look stupid when you fail on something someone could have helped you on. You can have generic and specific coaches and mentors, ask them to prioritize your emails in exchange for an upfront payment. You will get burned out, win less, and pass by your thematic decades if you don't work on meaningful great goals. Culture over Strategy, Email over Meeting, Fame over Fortune.
Sharran SrivatsaaRich people buy time, poor people buy stuff, ambitious people buy skills, lazy people buy distractions. If you have a good son, you don't need to accumulate wealth. If you have a bad son, there is no point in accumulating wealth. Focus is measured by the amount of things you say "No" to. Deciding means cutting off. You are not working that hard, go 100x not 2x. Work 12h per day for 30 days to realize how faster you could be and that you can work hard when needed. Work Output = Volume x Leverage. At first you put in a lot of volume until you gain leverage, then you continue this volume to benefit from the leverage. Work more until you get better at working. Rest (sleeping) is productive. Values are valuable when they are tested, do the hard work even when you don't feel like it, no one is always at 100%. Every wall that you push through is another wall the others won't pass thus leaving you even more alone toward champion status. Build brand by documenting, not teaching, as big brands are big thanks to the owner's achievement. Trust is rarer than brands. Use your content as proof of your qualities. Epic Stuff = Epic Brand. There is a threshold after which you go viral and every input done prior is invisible. Build a sense of urgency by shortening delays, turn end of the week into end of the day. Do the small things as they come instead of writing them down for later. You don't infinite time on earth, you could die tomorrow. Hard is for now, not forever. Problems you had 2 years ago wouldn't be a big deal today. You are both the marble and the sculptor. To be exceptional, you have to be an exception and go against people opinions. Listen to the people closest to your goals, not closest to you. Working without results is what hard feels like, you lose until you win all at once. It happens slower than you expect and faster than you imagine. Masters have more ways to win. Ignorance costs more than education. You can learn from everyone but only keep what makes you stronger. Have an insatiable desire to improve. Life isn't fair, remove "should" from you vocabulary. Wishing for something doesn't make you stronger, acting will. Don't bitch about the trades you aren't willing to take. You can't wish for a strong character and an easy life.
